Object Tracking: Follow or Replace Moving Objects
Use the AI-powered Object Tracking tool to automatically follow a subject, crop the video around it, or replace it with an image.
Unlocking Dynamic Camera Work and Effects
The Object Tracking tool is a powerful feature that uses AI to follow a selected object as it moves throughout a video clip. This opens up creative possibilities, from creating a virtual cameraman that follows the action to redacting sensitive information.
Step 1: Open the Object Tracking Tool
In the main header of the editor, click on the Tools menu (the hammer icon) and select Object Tracking.
Step 2: Upload Your Video
Upload the video file containing the object you wish to track. A video with a clear, distinct subject that doesn't move too erratically will produce the best results.
Step 3: Process the Video to Find Objects
Once the video is loaded, click the Process Video button. The AI will analyze the video frame by frame to identify potential objects to track. This may take some time.
Step 4: Select Your Object and Preview
After processing is complete, you can scrub through the timeline. The AI will highlight the objects it has found. Click on the specific object you want to use for the effect. You can then preview the tracking result, which will be shown as an overlay on the video.
Step 5: Choose Your Mode and Export
After selecting an object, you can choose one of three modes before exporting:
- Track (Default): This mode simply shows the tracking box. It's useful for verifying the tracking accuracy.
- Replace: This mode allows you to upload an image that will cover the tracked object. It's perfect for redacting faces, license plates, or adding fun stickers that follow a subject.
- Crop: This mode will automatically crop the entire video frame to keep the tracked object centered. You can define the width and height of the crop area. It's like having a virtual cameraman panning and tilting to follow the action.
Once you've selected your mode and configured its options, click Export (or "Save to Library") to generate the final video clip.
