Automatically Trim Silence from Videos

Learn how to use the AI-powered Voice Activity Detection (VAD) tool in Video Weaver to automatically find and remove silent parts from your videos, saving you hours of manual editing.

Stop Wasting Time Manually Cutting Pauses

Editing videos, especially interviews, podcasts, or tutorials, often involves a tedious task: finding and removing all the awkward pauses and silent gaps. Clicking, splitting, and deleting over and over again can take hours. What if you could do it all in just a few clicks?

With Video Weaver's "Detect & Trim Silence" tool, you can. Powered by Voice Activity Detection (VAD), this smart feature automatically analyzes your video's audio, identifies all the silent parts, and lets you remove them in one go.

How to Trim Silence in 4 Simple Steps

Step 1: Open the VAD Tool

In the main header of the editor, click on the Tools menu (the hammer icon) and select Detect & Trim Silence. This will open the silence trimming dialog.

Step 2: Upload Your Video

Click the upload area and select the video file you want to edit. It should be a video where the main audio is spoken word, like a speech, interview, or voiceover.

Step 3: Analyze and Review

Click the Analyze button. The tool's AI model will process the audio track of your video and break it down into segments, labeling each one as either "Speech" or "Silent". By default, all silent segments will be pre-selected for removal.

You can review the list of segments and un-select any silent parts you wish to keep by clicking on them.

Step 4: Process and Save

Once you're happy with the selected segments, click the Process button. The tool will stitch together all the non-silent parts into a new, seamless video. You can preview the result and then click Save to Library to add the trimmed video to your project, ready for further editing.

It's that easy. You've just saved yourself a significant amount of manual editing time, allowing you to focus on the more creative aspects of your video project.
