Mosaic Faces and Exclude Selected People

Face Mosaic scans a video clip for faces and adds editable mosaic blocks. You can also provide reference photos for people who should remain clear, such as the presenter in an interview.

1. Select a video clip

Add the video to the timeline and select it. Open the selected clip's tools panel and expand Face mosaic & exclusions.

2. Choose people to exclude

If every detected face should be obscured, leave People to exclude empty. To keep specific people clear, choose Add reference photos and select clear photos of those people. The tool accepts up to 20 reference photos. The reference photos are processed on this device and are not saved to the project.

On first use, Video Weaver downloads the AuraFace model (about 260 MB) and prepares the face detector. Wait for preparation to finish before analyzing.

3. Tune the detection and mosaic

• Reference match threshold appears when you add reference photos. A higher value makes the exclusion match stricter.
• Mosaic block size controls how coarse the mosaic looks. Increase it when the face needs to be less recognizable.
• Detection interval controls how often the clip is sampled. A shorter interval checks more frames and can follow quicker changes, but takes longer.

4. Detect and review

Select Detect faces and apply mosaic. When analysis is ready, the editable mosaic blocks are stored in the clip's sub-timeline. Select the clip and open Sub-timeline to adjust the result. Review the full clip, especially fast movement, scene changes, and faces near the frame edges; detection can miss a face or include one you meant to leave clear.
