Adding & Styling Text

Create and customize titles and text elements with a wide range of styling options, from fonts and colors to shadows and writing modes.

Adding a Text Clip

Go to the Text panel on the left. This panel is your starting point for adding all text-based elements to your video.

  • Use a Style Template: Click on any of the pre-designed style templates to add a text clip with that look directly to the timeline. This is the fastest way to get a great-looking title.
  • Add Plain Text: Click the "Add Plain Text" button to add a basic, unstyled text clip to the timeline, which you can then customize from scratch.

Editing Text Content & Basic Styles

Select the text clip on the timeline to open its properties in the Effects Panel on the right. Here, you can find all the customization options.

  • Text Content: Change what the text says in the large text area at the top.
  • Font & Size: Choose a Font Family from the dropdown (including any custom fonts you've uploaded) and set the Font Size.
  • Style Toggles: Use the Bold (B) and Italic (I) toggle buttons for quick style adjustments.
  • Color: Click the color swatches to change the Text Color and Background Color.

Advanced Styling

Layout & Spacing

  • Writing Mode: This powerful feature changes the direction of the text. You can choose Left-to-Right (standard), Right-to-Left (for languages like Arabic or Hebrew), or Top-to-Bottom for vertical text.
  • Line Height: Adjusts the vertical space between lines of text.
  • Character Spacing: Increases or decreases the space between each character.

Background Customization

  • Background Opacity: Makes the text's background more or less transparent.
  • Border Radius: Use this to round the corners of the background color, turning it from a sharp rectangle into a rounded "pill" shape.

Stroke (Border) & Shadow

  • Border: Add an outline to your text by picking a Border Color and setting a Border Width.
  • Shadow: Create a drop shadow effect by setting the Shadow Offset X/Y (how far the shadow is from the text), the Shadow Blur (how soft it is), and the Shadow Color.

Opacity

This slider controls the overall transparency of the entire text element, including its text, background, and all effects.

Saving & Using Style Templates

Once you've created a style you love, you don't have to recreate it every time.

  • Save a Style: In the "Style Templates" section, click the + (Add) button. You'll be prompted to give your new style a name. Once saved, it will appear in the list for any future project.
  • Apply a Style: Simply select a template from the dropdown list to apply its saved styles to your currently selected text clip.
  • Manage Templates: You can set a template as your default or delete custom templates from the same dropdown menu.
