Feel like your videos are missing something? The answer might be sound! This guide shows you how to easily add background music or voiceovers to your videos with Video Weaver, for free, right in your browser.
Why Do Your Videos Need a Bit of 'Sound'?
Have you ever shot a video you were really happy with—the visuals were beautiful, the story was interesting—but it just felt a little... dry? Often, the soul of a video is hidden in the sounds we hear.
Imagine a thrilling sports montage without an epic soundtrack—it loses that heart-pounding excitement, right? A touching family memory without gentle background music? The emotional impact is cut in half.
Sound is the emotional catalyst for video. It can be:
- Background Music (BGM): Sets the mood, drives emotions, and fully immerses the audience in the world you've created.
- Narration or Voiceover: Clearly conveys information, tells a story, and helps the audience understand the core message of your video.
Adding sound not only makes your video more professional but also more moving. But here's the catch: the thought of video editing often brings to mind complex and expensive professional software that takes ages to learn. Don't worry, there's a smarter way now.
Add Music to Your Videos Online in Four Easy Steps
You no longer need to download bulky software. With Video Weaver, all you need is a browser to get everything done. It's incredibly simple and completely free. Let's walk through how to easily add music to your videos.
Step 1: Get Your Video Ready
First, open the Video Weaver editor. Find the Media Library on the left. Click the upload area, or drag and drop your video file into the library. Once uploaded, click the "Add to Timeline" button on the media item to place the video onto a video track on the timeline below.
Step 2: Add the Soulful Soundtrack
With your video in place, it's time for the most crucial step. In the same way, upload your audio file (like an MP3 or WAV file) to the Media Library. Then, click "Add to Timeline" to place it on an audio track below the video track.
Now you can:
- Trim the Audio: Move the playhead (the vertical line) to the position where you want to cut the audio, select the clip, and click the Split (scissors icon) button in the timeline toolbar. You can then delete the unwanted part.
- Adjust Volume: Click the audio clip on the timeline, and the Effects Panel will open on the right. Find the volume slider to adjust the loudness. You can lower background music to avoid overpowering the original sound of the video.
- Separate Original Audio: If you only want to use the new soundtrack from a video clip, you can select the video, go to the "Audio" tab in the Effects Panel, and choose "Separate Audio".
Step 3: Choose the Right Format and Get Ready to Pack
Once your music and video are perfectly synced, you're ready to export. Click the Export button in the top-right header to open the export panel.
MP4 is the most recommended format. It's supported by almost all social media platforms (like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram) and devices, making it the top choice for online sharing.
Step 4: All Done! Download and Create More
After choosing your settings, click "Export Video." Your browser will start processing the video. Once complete, you can download the video file with your new audio. You can save it to your computer or phone, or share it immediately on social media to show your friends.
More Than Just Adding Music, It's Breathing Life into Content
Once you learn to add sound to your videos, the possibilities are endless!
- Social Media Guru: Pair your beautifully crafted food or DIY videos with upbeat background music for Instagram or TikTok to grab more attention.
- Travel Vlogger: String together clips from your last trip, add your favorite song, and a story-filled travel vlog is born—at zero cost.
- Working Professional: Need to give a product presentation or create a tutorial for your team? Clear narration and titles make your communication more effective.
Sound evokes emotion and conveys ideas. A great soundtrack or voiceover can elevate your video from "pretty good" to "amazing."
